This traditional flour-based dish from southern Germany is also very popular elsewhere. The classic version is made from yeast dough that is simultaneously fried and steamed in a covered pot. Our Dampfnudel come with a sugar & poppy-seed mixture.

Moisten the Dampfnudel all over with water, cover them, and heat in the microwave at 600 W.

Cooking time:
1 piece: 1 min.
3 pieces: 2 min.
5 pieces: 3 min.

Follow the appliance manufacturer’s instructions.


How about… crusted Dampfnudel?
Boil approx. 1/8 L milk, 2 tsp sugar and 1 tbs butter or margarine in a non-stick pan. Add the LAWA Dampfnudel, cover the pan, and leave to steam for approx. 15 min. Bon appétit!

Cooking pot

We recommend preparing these in a cooking pot. Place the Dampfnudel in a sieve, place the sieve over a pot of approx. 250 ml boiling water, close the pot and leave to steam for approx. 10 min. Ensure the Dampfnudel never come into direct contact with the water.


Dampfnudel: WHEAT FLOUR, water, sugar, yeast, WHEAT STARCH, margarine (palm oil, water, rapeseed oil, emulsifiers [sunflower lecithin and mono- and diglycerides of fatty acids], salt, acidifier [citric acid]), WHOLE MILK POWDER, salt, flavouring, WHOLE EGG POWDER.

Sugar & poppy-seed mixture: Sugar, poppy seeds (37%), spices.
